The Admiral James J. Carey Foundation does not anticipate having specific operating programs of it’s own during the early years of the foundation. The intent of this foundation is to focus on establishing endowment agreements with recognized 501.c.3 organizations and institutions that already have existing programs in place and in operation that meet the requirements of Admiral Carey’s donor intent parameters and that produce the results and performance that this foundation has been established to support. It is important that the majority of these endowments be established and written agreements acknowledging donor intent signed during Admiral Carey’s lifetime. Many of the assets of this foundation are focused on these programs and under the parameters of Admiral Carey’s donor intent guidelines and policies, they cannot be changed after his death.
