The mission of The Admiral James J. Carey Foundation is to use the assets of Admiral Carey’s Estate, grown through five decades of hard and continuous work in support of America and sound national public policy, to continue that work through the endowment of carefully chosen organizations, institutions, and associations that share the Admiral’s views on service to our nation and “giving back” to society and in return for a highly productive lifetime of involvement in national public policy that has been and continues to be critical to our nation’s continued success, growth, and prosperity. This is accomplished through an adherence to the Admiral’s Vision regarding prudent management of assets so that continued financial support of these programs is ensured because annual expenditures are limited to a portion of annual earnings on investment that are always less than those earnings, thus ensuring a continuous growth of the basic asset mix that provides these earnings. Endowments and donations are only made to organizations and institutions holding recognized Internal Revenue Service 501.c.3 status. No endowments are made until a mutually signed agreement has been negotiated that clearly acknowledges donor intent of the donor by the donee and commitment is received that this donor intent must be adhered to or the endowment will be terminated and past accrued endowment funds returned to this foundation. Further information on the foundation’s mission and it’s related operations is contained in the Frequently Asked Questions section of the foundation web site.
